Vintage Hotels Hosts Culinary Industry Icon

Legendary Chef Jacques Pépin to demonstrate celebrated cooking techniques at third weekend of month long Culinary Festival

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON April 19, 2010 – Industry icon, internationally respected Chef, cookbook author, television personality and cooking teacher, Jacques Pépin will share his personal experiences and renowned cooking style with guests of the first annual Vintage Hotels Culinary Festival, April 24th and 25th.  The weekend is a sell out.

Joining Chef Pépin and his Sous Chef Claudine Pépin for the exclusive Cuisine Alors! Weekend will be the Vintage Hotels’ multi-award winning Culinary Teams whose acclaimed skills have helped earn the Vintage Hotels properties the CAA/AAA four-diamond award and Condé Nast Gold List distinction.

Each with a signature style and area of expertise, these seasoned Chefs will showcase their skills and share their personal experiences through a series of highly anticipated seminars, informative, interactive and entertaining cooking demonstrations as well as personally design the menu for the weekend’s crown affairs — the exclusive Chef’s Table Dinner on Saturday evening, and a Sunday morning Brunch — all set amidst the beautiful backdrop of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

“I have heard many wonderful things about the distinguished history, fine cuisine, warm hospitality and incredible wine of Niagara-on-the-Lake.  I look forward to experiencing all of it and I am honoured to join my peers and share my passion in this exciting celebration,” said Pépin.

Chef Pépin was the personal chef to three French heads of state, including Charles de Gaulle, is the author of 25 cookbooks and has hosted nine acclaimed public television cooking series. Pépin’s latest book, More Fast Food My Way, contains dozens of elegant “minute” recipes.  In 2008, he won a Lifetime Achievement Award from The James Beard Foundation.  As a special gift to Vintage Hotels, Chef Pépin, also an inspired artist, has created an original interpretive drawing of the Saturday evening Chef’s Table Dinner menu and each guest of the Cuisine Alors! Weekend will receive a copy of this unique work of art.

Hosted at the acclaimed Queen’s Landing, Prince of Wales and Pillar and Post Hotels the month-long Vintage Hotels Culinary Festival began Saturday, April 10th. Each weekend features an esteemed group of celebrated Chefs working together to execute a sensational, multi-sensory gastronomic celebration for the public. Dynamic menus delivering impact and outstanding flavour combinations are paired perfectly with a selection of VQA wines from family owned, award-winning Château des Charmes the official winery partner in the first annual Festival.

All Festival fare will be prepared in multi-award winning Le Creuset cookware – a culinary industry quality benchmark since 1925 and the official cookware supplier of the first annual Vintage Hotels Culinary Festival.

All-inclusive weekend packages for the Vintage Hotels Culinary Festival are now on sale from $325 CAD per person and can be purchased by calling 1-888-669-5566. For more information on the Vintage Hotels Culinary Festival, please visit www.vintage-hotels.com
