FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON June 10, 2010 – For the second consecutive year Vintage Hotels’ Queen’s Landing has been recognized by Condé Nast Traveler Magazine. The worldwide travel aficionado has announced its annual Gold List, an esteemed list of the best hotels, resorts and cruises; naming Queen’s Landing as the top hotel in Ontario for 2010. Last year the hotel was voted best in Ontario in the Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Awards.

Only two hotels received the Gold List honour for Ontario this year, with Queen’s Landing topping the list at an overall score of 88.4. The largest property of the Vintage Collection with 142 guestrooms and 19 meeting rooms, Queen’s Landing attracts a significant number of corporate groups in addition to leisure travelers. The hotel’s recent honours are testament to its longstanding reputation for excellence in delivering exceptional experiences to its guests.

In addition to achieving first place on the Gold List, Queen’s Landing has been a CAA/AAA four diamond award recipient for 20 years for accommodations, and 15 years for dining. The hotel’s Tiara Restaurant has also collected numerous accolades for its wine list and Niagara-inspired menus over the last five years.

Queen’s Landing General Manager Lily Kszan has witnessed the steady growth and recognition bestowed on the property over her past four years with the company. “We are thrilled to receive this honour from one of the world’s foremost travel authorities. The Queen’s Landing team has earned this award through their dedication to guest satisfaction. Beyond the beautiful rooms, excellent service and food, we truly believe it’s the personal connections that make all the difference.”

The Gold List is compiled by Condé Nast Traveler based on data collected from their annual Readers’ Choice Survey. Over 32,000 readers’ responses are reviewed and edited in an effort to reflect a property’s true character rather than simply rating its facilities. Individual scores are given for rooms, service, food, location and design, and then averaged for an overall score.

Trevor Ritchie takes first place for Canada in Santiago, Chile

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON February 9, 2010 – Queen’s Landing welcomed home its Restaurant Chef and triple-gold medal winner Trevor Ritchie last week. Trevor returned from South America where he earned his latest gold medal commemorating his win in the Hans Bueschkens Junior Chefs Challenge. Hosted by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), this year’s competition was held in Santiago, Chile on January 24-28, 2010.

Ritchie’s recent prize was preceded by 2 successive gold medals in 2009. The young chef had exercised his culinary prowess in The National Junior Culinary Competition in Kelowna, BC last June, earning him the right to represent Canada in the WACS finals. Prior to that, he was named Ontario’s top junior chef placing first in the Ontario Junior Culinary Challenge held in Toronto in April 2009.

Upon his homecoming to Queen’s Landing, Trevor was clearly elated with his achievement, yet spoke of the experience with the modesty of a true professional. “My win in Chile was both the late end and the early beginning of a dream to reach the top. It has taught me to respect other talent and to face the competition with a fearless, but humble, confidence that I will carry with me for the rest of my career.”

Eligibility for the global competition was limited to chefs in WACS-accredited countries who were less than 25 years of age and had won the right to represent their country. Competition guidelines dictated a three-course meal be created for eight persons. In the ‘Mystery Basket’ Competition a list of ingredients was revealed to contestants just hours prior to preparation.

Trevor’s award-winning three-course menu featured the appetizers Roasted Chilean Sea Bass with Oyster Foam–Cold Smoked Chilean Sea Bass with Orange Gelée and Avocado Panna Cotta; a main course of Ribeye en ‘Coucotte’ wrapped with Prosciutto and layered with Portobello Mushrooms and Oven-Dried Tomatoes, Braised Beef Osso Buco with Shallot Soubise and Roast Garlic Infused Potato Fondant; and ended with a dessert of Dark Chocolate Pistachio Dacquoise, Pumpkin Mascarpone Sphere, Passion Fruit Sorbet, Raspberry Gelée and Caramel Sauce.

Candidates had five and a half hours to prepare all the dishes, plate the selections and serve them to the panel of judges. Competitors were each allowed one Mentor/Coach to accompany them in representing their country. Ritchie chose Chef James Olberg, a former member of Culinary Team Canada, and current Executive Chef of four-diamond Tiara Restaurant at Queen’s Landing in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

Christophe Luzeux, Executive Chef of the Halifax World Trade and Convention Centre and member of Culinary Team Canada 2000-2004, was one of the tasting judges in the Junior Chefs Challenge competition. Having personally experienced the menus of the 17 countries’ best junior chefs, Luzeux was impressed with Trevor’s culinary skill as well as his ability to stay cool under pressure and the Chilean heat.

Luzeux commented, “Trevor was well organized, had a well-balanced menu, and great techniques…His first plate set the level where you have to be to win this competition; great colour, texture, flavours… He sent a dessert that wowed every member of the jury panel. The final tally placed Trevor on top for the morning competition and no competitor from the afternoon heat was able to come close to what Trevor did that day.”

Trevor Ritchie joined the Queen’s Landing culinary team in August 2007 under the wing of renowned Chef James Olberg, a seasoned culinary competitor in his own right. A Waterloo, Ontario native and George Brown College graduate who started exercising his passion for cooking at age 15, Trevor has been competing, and winning for several years. As early as 2004, Trevor won silver in the Skills Canada, Culinary Arts competition, followed by gold in George Brown College’s Chefs in the City competition in 2007, and has successfully assisted at the prestigious Bocuse d’Or Canadian Selections in 2006 and 2008.

Pillar and Post spa getaway ideal ‘gift from the heart’ for Valentine’s & Mother’s Day

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON January 7, 2010 – In a time when daily stresses affect not only an individual’s well-being, but also their closest relationships, Vintage Hotels announces a breakthrough spa service specifically geared to couples.

The new set of services focusing on a holistic approach to wellness will be offered as
Relationship Retreats in the comfort of top-ranked 100 Fountain Spa at Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Any two people in a relationship can book this special spa getaway (married or engaged couples, partners, mothers and daughters, friends). The Retreat consists of a choice of couples massage or side-by-side pedicures followed by an entertaining and reflective one-hour session designed to celebrate their relationship. The Relationship Retreat can also be conveniently packaged with overnight accommodations.

Vintage Hotels has enlisted the expertise of professional Ashley Howe to lead the session portion of the Retreat. As a trained clinical therapist, Ms. Howe uses a set of specially crafted questions to bring deeper value and fresh insight to the relationship. It’s worth noting that although Ashley is a therapist, this is not therapy! Couples enjoy a lighthearted Q&A discussion that draws out such positive aspects as the couple’s earliest memories of each other, their proudest moments and dreams for their future. The intimate journey sets a perfect stage for engaged couples starting a life together as well as giving a positive energy boost to an established relationship.

Expanding on its list of traditional and signature spa treatments to include these new relationship services, Vintage Hotels is pleased to add Ashley Howe to its esteemed team of professionals at 100 Fountain Spa. The hotel company has worked with Ashley since mid-2009 to develop and define the new spa offering based observations she made in her clinical practice.

“As a therapist, I’ve often wished I could bottle the energy that comes when people are speaking about the best parts of their lives, when they are empowered to make changes and build on those positive stories,” says Ms. Howe. “On vacation, or at times when we are away from the everyday, we can be most receptive to appreciation and celebration of ourselves and our relationships. It is this celebration that is not only restorative, but long lasting in its powerful effects.”

Couples can enjoy a Relationship Massage for Body & Mind including a soothing 50-minute couples’ massage in a private treatment room followed by a ‘massaging of the minds’ in Howe’s 60-minute session. The Mother Daughter Relationship Retreat eases the soles and the souls in a side-by-side 55-minute pedicure followed by the 60-minute session. The sessions can also be reserved a la carte starting at $140 per couple. A Valentine’s special starting February 1, 2010 will include a glass of Niagara wine and a trio of cheeses in addition to the Relationship Massage for Body & Mind.

Vintage Hotels invites spa guests to reserve a Relationship Retreat for themselves or as a gift for their loved ones. Appointments can be made by calling Spa Reservations at 1-888-669-5566 or e-mailing
spares@vintage-hotels.com. A full description of the Relationship Retreat services is available on our online spa services menu.

ABOUT ASHLEY HOWE
Ashley Howe and her team of clinically trained therapists bring expertise to a rejuvenating spa experience that promotes more holistic living. Howe has a Master of Science degree in clinical therapy, is a published author, researcher, and teacher in the field of psychology, and is currently a practitioner in family therapy.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON November 18, 2009—Spas of America, a healthy living and travel website showcasing the best Spa & Wellness travel experiences, today launched its 700th spa listing and first Historic spa experience: The Millcroft Inn & Spa, Alton-Caledon, Ontario, Canada.

“Spas of America is pleased to welcome the Millcroft Inn & Spa,” says Spas of America president Craig Oliver. “Situated less than an hour from Canada’s largest city and two hours from New York State, the Millcroft is a premier spa destination offering the charm and romance of the past, complemented by four-diamond comfort and first-class service.“

A historic gem dating back to the 1880s, the Millcroft was originally built as a textile mill. A definitive country retreat, the Millcroft is part of a small community known for its thriving art scene, love for horses and many outdoor activities.

One signature spa treatment at the Millcroft Spa is the Raindrop Therapy with Native Indian Hot Rock Massage. This unique therapy developed by the American Lakota Indians is designed to align energy centers, release blockages and bring the body into balance. Nine essential oils are strategically applied and worked into the back muscles, followed by a full-body massage. More details about the Millcroft Inn & Spa can be viewed at its platinum member listing: http://www.spasofamerica.com/spas/millcroft_inn.

Paul MacIntyre, GM of the Pillar and Post, another fine heritage property, oversees all Vintage Hotels spas, including its newest one at the Millcroft Inn. MacIntyre says, “We’re very proud to have our spa chosen for this milestone. We look forward to the Millcroft Inn & Spa being showcased to Spas of America’s targeted Spa & Wellness consumers from around the world.” Vintage Hotels also operates two other boutique spa properties in Southern Ontario, 100 Fountain Spa at Pillar and Post and the Secret Garden Spa, Prince of Wales Hotel. (Both spas ranked in Spas of America’s Top 30 Spas of 2008 based on consumer traffic to the Spas of America website.)
